Vahid Vahidian | Multimedia Artist & Filmmaker
"Through my practice as a multimedia artist and filmmaker, I explore the intersections of time, nature, and human presence. My work is defined by a desire to allow the art to lead its own existence, often long after the artist’s hand has retreated.
In my recent explorations, I have developed a technique that marries watercolor on white-primed wood with elements of copper. Through the natural process of oxidation, the copper evolves over time—reshaped by the atmosphere, humidity, and the surrounding environment. This creates a living work in constant flux; a visual manifestation of the passage of time and nature’s inherent processes.
I perceive the artist as a facilitator—one who establishes the foundation and provides the conditions, yet allows environmental forces to dictate the work's future trajectory. Thematically, my pieces navigate the tensions between remote urban landscapes and the rural periphery, intertwined with the essence of femininity and 'Mother Earth'—a figure that frequently emerges as a spectral presence or shadow within my imagery.
My ambition is to invite the observer into a contemplation of our place within a larger, breathing, and ever-evolving context."
